McKees Rocks Magical Sceptre
McKees Rocks, PA: McKees Rocks Magical Sceptre, Publisher. Wraps. Good. Item #022902
no date, perhaps late 1960s, early 1970s. Side stapled zine format, about 8 ½ by 11 inches. 14 leaves, including covers. A few illustrations throughout. No issue designation, although there appears to have been at least 2 issues published. An obscure underground newspaper from McKees Rocks, PA, embracing the New Age and counterculture aspects of the late 1960s (If zine shaped why not zine?). The paper reprints various quotes from the Bible, Walt Whitman and others all reflecting on the spirit of love. Original essays are present, although musing on the esoteric. GOOD condition. Last leaf DETACHED from the staples, with the rest of the piece somewhat tenuously accepting the grip of the 50 year plus staples. Uneven toning. Small chip affecting the center fore edge of most pages. Some creasing at the corners. Minor soiling.
