Free Huey! Demonstration. Tues. 530 pm Event Flyer
New York: Peace and Freedom Party, Publisher. Unbound. Very Good. Item #022843
no date, presumed late 1968. Single sheet, yellow paper stock, 8 ½ by 11 inches. A flyer promoting a demonstration of support for Black liberation and for Black Panther Party leader, Huey Newton. The protest was to have been held on September 10, and Newton was convicted on September 8 of the same year (1968). At the time, Eldridge Cleaver was the candidate for President of the United States for the Peace and Freedom Party. The flyer refers to Newton as the leading spokesman for Back Liberation in America and also contains a brief passage describing the police assault on Eldridge Cleaver which resulted in the murder of 17 year old Bobby Hutton by police, gunning him down while he was unarmed. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and edgewear.
