Half leather with black cloth. 952 pp. With a few illustrations. Bound volume of this monthly magazine spanning May to October 1880. Includes an essay by John Muir on the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, "In the Heart of the California Alps;" an article on Denver, Colorado; a piece on mass migrations to Kansas; chapters from Louisiana by Frances Hodgson Burnett; Japanese and Chinese Students in America; the sorcery of Madjoon (Opium); Mammoth Cave; "Louisiana" by Frances Hodgson Burnett; a piece attributing the Book of Mormon to Rev. Solomon Spaulding, etc. GOOD condition. Slightly ex-library, with an indication this was from a memorial room, along with a gift inscription, all on the first endpaper. No other treatments noted. Heavy scuffing to the leather along the hinges, with heavy scuffing to the extremities. Leather dry, brittle, cracking and chipping along the spine, with some loss. Minor soiling and fading to the covers. Moderate scuffing. Front interior hinge cracked and separating from the binding, although still intact. Scattered foxing and soiling in the interior.
