Revolutionary Youth Movement
Chicago: RYM/SDS, Publishers, 1969. Tabloid. Good. Item #022755
no date, 1969. Tabloid newspaper format. 20 pp. Black and white illustrations and photos throughout. A one off publication issued by the Revolutionary Youth Movement (RYM) faction of the SDS. In 1969 the Students for a Democratic Society faced splintering due to disagreements with how to continue the "Movement." Factions such as the Weathermen and the RYM advocated for more direct action, essentially bringing the Vietnam War home to the US. This culminated in a planned three day protest in Chicago from October 8-11, 1969. Known as the Days of Rage, the protests did not proceed as hoped, with a large police presence and smaller than anticipated turnout resulting in blunted protests, although damage to the city was still caused. This paper was issued prior to the protests, containing anti-Vietnam pieces, pieces on various groups such as the Young Lords and Black Panthers, a piece on uniting women featuring a photo of Ericka Huggins, etc. GOOD condition. Minor general toning. Faint fold crease present. Light wear along the extremities.
