Tabloid newspaper format. 12, 12 pp., including the 12 page "magazine" in the center. Single issue of this long running daily newspaper devoted to the Marxist ideology, socialism and labor causes. That said, the majority of the newspaper reads like most other papers, including the sports section which was down on the New York Rangers. Usual politics, national and international news items present. Of note is a piece printing a large portion of a speech by noted Gary, Indiana mayor, Richard Hatcher, titled "Black Power in Our Cities." In it, Hatcher discusses the emergence of the Black power ideology, and supports its goals of Black pride and Black rule in Black communities. He urges a reframing of the Black identity from one defined by a legacy of white supremacy to one rooted in pride of one's culture and heritage. Also present is a piece comparing Goya's images of war with photo images from the Vietnam War. GOOD+ condition. General toning. Black ink smudging to the lower front cover.
