no date, 1870s-1880s. Thick yellow cardboard stock. 7 by 3 ½ inches. A stereoscopic photo of part of the Cog Railway ascending Mount Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. With a man riding some sort of toboggan down the center of the railroad. Produced by the Kilburn Brothers of Littleton, NH, at one time the foremost producer of stereoview photos in the world. Benjamin Kilburn was a note photographer in his own right, as well as a mountaineer, including ascents of Mount Washington and rescues in the White Mountains. GOOD condition. Corners and edges rounded and worn. General toning and minor soiling. Small ink spot to the upper left image. Printing on the reverse rather faded.
