Experimental College Arts and Letters Offerings Course Listings Flyer.
No Place: Experimental College, San Francisco State University, Publisher. Unbound. Very Good. Item #022223
No place or date. Presumed San Franciso, late 1960s. Single sheet, printed on one side only. Approximately 8 ½ by 11 inches. An illustrated flyer providing a list of ten courses being offered at the Experimental College, including teachers. The list includes International Experimental Art, Zen Koans and Stories, Meta-Hamlet, street poetry, etc. According to the Experimental College's current website, the program started in 1965 with Cynthia Carlson, Donna Michaelson and Sharon Gold teaching 3 classes to about 170 students. The original concept of the college was to have curriculum and teachers that weren't just white and male, and that taught to broader experiences. By 1967 a split between white and Black leaders at the EC occurred, with white leaders focusing more on the counterculture and introspection, while Black leaders created a different program focusing on the issues facing the Black community. The original EC closed in 1969. Judging by the courses offered on this flyer, we presume this to be circa 1967-1969. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and a hint of curling along the edges.
