No place or date. Perhaps Buffalo, 1980. Single sheet, 8 ½ by 11 inches. Printed on a single side. Provenance: from the collection of video artist Alan Powell. A flyer for an exhibition of two video works: "Our Pet T.V.," by Coleman/Powell and "No Japs at My Funeral," by James Nares. Nares is a British artist who is perhaps best known for her paintings, although she has also produced many short films and videos, as well as played guitar in the No Wave band James Chance and the Contortions. This exhibition or showing was held on Tuesday, March 23 at 8:30 pm. The flyer is a simple but striking collage of a city skyline backdrop with a gun and a TV superimposed. Exhibition held at the noted Hallwalls venue, an art exhibition center focusing on contemporary art from diverse forms of media, including video and installations. The gallery was formed in 1974 by Charles Clough, Robert Longo, Cindy Sherman and others to create a collaborative environment between gallery and artist to showcase contemporary art. GOOD condition. Some toning. Two horizontal fold creases present, along with a few other creases and wrinkles.
