The Kitchen for Electronic Media at Mercer Arts Center Flyer for a June Video Festival.
New York: The Kitchen, Publisher. Unbound. Good. Item #021879
no date, circa 1973 based on the 240 Mercer Street address. Single sheet, 8 ½ by 11 inches. Printed on a single side only. A typed flyer from The Kitchen, an avant-garde and experimental art venue originally established in 1971. It was created by Steina and Woody Vasulka, artists who decided to rent the kitchen of the Mercer Arts Center to show their work. They then collaborated with others to open the space to other artists with a show held on June 15, 1971. We believe this flyer was from the Video Festival that was held in June of 1973. The text describes the type of work that was to be featured and mentions presenting artists such as Nam June Paik, Eric Siegel, Stephen Beck, Aldo Tambellini and others. GOOD condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present, with moderate creasing and wrinkling. General toning. Minor offsetting/discoloration along the lower edge. A small tear/crease present at the center left edge.
