Tony (Anthony) Ramos: Video at Anthology Film Archives Promotional Postcard.
New York: Anthology Film Archives, Publisher. Unbound. Good. Item #021778
no date, perhaps late 1970s, early 1980s. Single sheet 6 by 4 ¼ inches. A postcard promoting the filmmaker and video artist Tony (Anthony) Ramos and "Videotapes." This showing was held at the Anthology Film Archives. Front features a still from one of his videos. This exhibition included his "About Media," a 1977 piece that deconstructed news media by using footage from an interview with him when he was incarcerated for dodging the draft. Much of Ramos' work in the 1970s could be labeled activist art, and it often gave voices to marginalized groups in the US, including Black Americans. Ramos switched to painting in the late 1980s as his primary medium to work in. GOOD condition. Minor toning. Odd piece of foam tape remains adhered to the center rear postcard.
Price: $30.00
