Theory of the Integral. Second Revised Edition, English Translation. Tom VII of the Monografie Matematyczne Series

Warsaw and New York: Lwow/G.E. Stechert, Publisher, 1937. Wraps. Good. Item #021764

Printed wraps. 347 pp. A rather technical monograph on integrals and mathematics, originally published in Poland in 1930. Stanislaw Saks was a Polish mathematician who focused on theories of functions and functionals. Despite his success and acclaim by colleagues, he never achieved professor status at the University of Lwow. At the outbreak of World War II Saks joined the Polish underground. He was caught by the Gestapo in 1942 and executed. Provenance: this came from a collection of books where some were owned by mathematician James Andrew Clarkson, although there is no indication of ownership in this book. GOOD condition. Heavy fading, mostly along the extremities. Moderate chipping, wrinkling and small tears along the edges.

Price: $150.00
