1st Annual Subliminal Suggestion: "Images and the Mind" Symposium Event Flyer.

Los Angeles: African Collective, presumed Publisher, 1983. Unbound. Good. Item #021662

Single sheet, blue paper stock. 8 ½ by 11 inches. Printed on a single side only. A flyer for a two day event, held August 20-21, 1983 at the Elegant Manor in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles. Titled Subliminal Suggestion: "Images and the Mind" Symposium, it appears the event had panel discussions featuring poet Kamau Daa'ood, Omowale Fowles, Dr. Anyim Palmer, Majied Mahdi and others. Cheka Abubakari served as moderator. A film "A Different Image" was shown, and cultural dance, poetry, information booths on holistic health, legal rights, recycling, etc., were present. Our research turned up nothing specific related to the African Collective or the symposium, although it seems to have been something where people could embrace and celebrate their African roots. The event was held at Elegant Manor, a mansion that once served as the epicenter for Black community activities in that region of Los Angeles. GOOD condition. Several spots of staining near the upper right, with some discoloration at the upper left. Three tiny drip stains near the right edge. Minor fading and some spotting to the piece.

Price: $40.00
