OSPAAAL. Day of the Heroic Guerrilla October 8 OSPAAAL Poster. (Che Guevara)
No Place: OSPAAAL, Publisher, 1970. Unbound. Very Good. Item #021603
No place or date (Havana, Cuba, 1970). Single sheet, thin paper stock. Measures approximately 20 ¾ by 13 inches. A poster issued by the organization OSPAAAL, commemorating Che Guevara. This was the third year a poster was produced to honor Che and featured a reproduction of the iconic photo of Che taken by Alberto Korda. Artist Lazaro Abreu used a traditional Andean poncho decorated with indigenous patterns, hanging from Che's preferred weapon, a carbine M2 rifle (see Victoria and Albert Museum blog for previous information). Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America was a political movement and organization founded in Cuba in 1966. Its goal was to fight imperialism and help liberation movements worldwide. It created posters as part of its propaganda campaign, including them as fold outs in the organization's journal, Tricontinental. Colors and art made the posters popular, and they were distributed internationally. VERY GOOD condition. Light fading and toning. A few tiny wrinkles and creases along the right edge. Small area of discoloration at the top right corner.
Price: $450.00
