no date, perhaps circa 1920. Thin cardstock. Measures 7 ¼ by 2 ¼ inches at its tallest and widest. A paper doll depicting Fay Bainter in her role in the Broadway comedy, East is West. The doll combines photo with illustrations, with promotional copy on the reverse. The play debuted in 1918, and was made into a film drama in 1922 and 1930. The play starred Fay Bainter as a Chinese woman, the play using white performers to play Chinese characters. Fay Bainter went on to become an Academy Award winning actress. GOOD+ condition. Small crease at the neck. Minor toning and fading.
