East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb (not in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. This issue with the usual movement, music, drug and counterculture musings, etc. With comix by Spain Rodriguez and Simon Deitch. Includes an interview with Allen Ginsberg; a discussion of representations (or lack thereof) of the Black community in DC and Marvel comics; an advertisement for Gothic Blimp Works that features a small reprint of a cartoon by R. Crumb depicting a jailbait of the month. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. Many small tears and creases along the fore edge. Mailing label on the upper front cover. Some curling and small tears along the other edges.
