Free David! Pinback

: no date. 2 ¼ inches in diameter. Safety pin style back. Pinback is an image of a Black man with a raised fist and the words "Free David!" No indication as to who David is. Image searches turned up nothing. The only possibility we could readily come up with was perhaps the Chicago gang leader turned community activist, David Barksdale, but this is complete conjecture on our part. Since David Barksdale died in 1974, we feel like this speculation is probably wrong, partly because the image appears to be photomechanically reproduced, with the pinback style perhaps from late 1970s, early 1980s. GOOD+ condition. Pin itself rather rusted.
