A novel romanticizing plantation life in Virginia, with Black characters speaking in dialect. Written by Margaret Preston, an American poet who wrote positively about the Confederacy in her poetry, and was informally known as the Poet Laureate of the Confederacy. GOOD condition. Minor soiling and toning to the covers, with some spotting and staining. Light edgewear. Front interior hinge cracked and separating from the binding. Text block solid and lightly toned.
