Street and Smith's New York Weekly. A Journal of Useful Knowledge Romance Amusement. June 23, 1873

New York: Street and Smith, 1873. Tabloid. Fair. Item #018598

Side folding tabloid newspaper. 8 pp. Black and white illustrations throughout. Single issue of this popular weekly tabloid, featuring a variety of sensational stories and accounts. Issued by Street and Smith, a publisher of dime novels. This issue with "Edith Lyle's Secret," by Mary J. Holmes, etc. Also included is a short letter purportedly written by Wild Bill Hickok to put to rest rumors of his death. According to the letter he was living somewhere in Kentucky, although there is no evidence that he ever lived in Kentucky, so this is presumably a concocted piece of some sort. FAIR condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present. Heavy chipping, tearing, creasing and some loss along the edges, resulting in a rather tattered look. Pages unopened along the top edge. Some chipping and tearing along the folds, resulting in creasing and loss of text at the intersection of the folds. Minor soiling and toning. Overall very worn.

Price: $35.00
