A look at the photography of American painter and photographer Thomas Eakins, containing many previously unpublished photos taken by Eakins, including some of Walt Whitman. Primarily visual in scope, with a critical essay preceding the photos. Eakins aroused controversy in allowing females to paint nude male models, damaging his reputation and career during his lifetime. GOOD jacket on a VERY GOOD book. Jacket browned along the spine and extremities, with general minor toning. Minor soiling and a few small spots of staining. Light scuffing and a few tears along the extremities. Minor fading and edgewear to the book. Extensive pencil annotation to the first endpaper.
