No Place: No Publisher, 1848. Pamphlet. Good. Item #018128

No publisher, place or date. Presumed Washington, DC: 1848. Pamphlet, disbound from a larger work and lacking any wrappers that may have been issued. 4 pp. A report from the US government disavowing knowledge of, and essentially dismissing claims of, a petition submitted by members of the Seneca, Onondaga and Cayuga Native American tribes from New York. They claim that after being sent to land southwest of the Mississippi, they were unable to sustain themselves, and subsequently left, to return to their homeland. The tribes had hoped to settle in other land set aside for Native Americans on the upper Mississippi. The US government asserted that other Northern tribes had succeeded in the Southwest, so the Seneca, Onondaga and Cayuga should have as well. A short letter from George Fox and George Jamison "Chiefs" of the above tribes, outlines their monetary claims, including that they should be reimbursed for rations not received. GOOD condition. Minor toning and foxing. Some creasing, mostly along the spine edge.

Price: $40.00
