Side folding tabloid format. 16 pp. Black and white photos throughout. Connections was a paper from Madison, Wisconsin, published from 1967 to 1969 and harnessing a militant college campus energy to discuss the sometimes violent confrontations that occurred between police and protesters in Madison (see Insiders History of the Vietnam Era Underground Press, Part 2 for previous information). This with a lengthy article on Black history, focusing on activists and leaders such as Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois, and Marcus Garvey, among others. Also featured is a centerfold spread of poetry by d.a. levy, including part of his "suburban monastery death poem. Another page also has some levy poetry. Levy killed himself in late November of 1968. Rear page is devoted to the San Francisco Mime Troup of San Francisco, at a show in Madison, Wisconsin. This includes many photos of the performance, along with associated words. FAIR/GOOD condition. A large piece of the paper torn from the top leaf 5/6, resulting in some loss of text in the Black history article. The centerfold pages have their lower corners torn off, with some loss of text to one levy poem. A few other tears present in the interior. Fold crease present, with moderate to heavy toning and some soiling. Moderate chipping, tearing and creasing along the extremities.
