New York: Weekly Guardian Associates, Publisher, 1970. Tabloid. Good. Item #016899

Side folding newspaper format. 20 pp. An issue of this "radical" weekly, featuring a short article on the growing "Black insurgency" in the US, giving brief news bits on protests/actions in Des Moines, Boston, Philadelphia, Hot Springs, Lake Providence, New York City, and Columbus, Ohio; a short piece on a procession in honor of Malcolm X; an article on a 110 mile march of Black protestors, marching from Perry, Georgia to Griffin, Georgia, and protesting the firing of two Black teachers that led to the incarceration of 275 protestors in a prison camp deemed unfit for human habitation. Also present is a short piece on the "whitewashed" inquiry into the murder of Black Panther Party leader, Fred Hampton; news on the start of the Los Siete trial; a lengthy piece on various Black protests in the South, protesting the police murders of Black activists and students at Jackson, Mississippi and other locations. The Guardian is a long running newspaper of the left, originally an underground newspaper that focused on the Vietnam War, supporting and covering anti-war messages and protests. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present, with some chipping and tearing along the fold at the center spine. Moderate toning. Minor soiling and staining. Several pencil tick marks and underlines in the text.
