Full calf leather. viii, 560, 72 pp. Volume two only of this exhaustive biography of George Washington, this volume focusing on Washington's actions during the early part of the Revolutionary War, including some accounts of battles, etc. Written by John Marshall, the fourth Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, a noted lawyer, and briefly, a politician. GOOD condition. Ex-library with spine label, pastedown and removed pocket, as well as minor library markings in the interior. Heavy scuffing and edgewear to the covers, with superficial loss of leather along the front and rear cover fore edge. Spine darkened and very worn, with flaking and cracking along the hinges. Title label peeling off from the upper spine. Paper toned, with scattered foxing and spotting in the interior. Dampstaining in the lower gutter of the first several pages. Sabin 44788, Howes M317.
