A short piece on the importance of the Rosetta Stone in translating Egyptian Hieroglyphics, including some discussion of the translation process. The history of the stone and its acquisition has been recently reexamined, with it considered as emblematic of European colonialism and exploitation of other nationalities and cultures. GOOD condition. Uneven toning and fading to the covers, with minor soiling and staining. Small ink notation at the upper left corner. Extremities scuffed. Bookplate on the first endpaper.
