Jet was noted for its documentation of the Civil Rights movement and the murder of Emmett Till. This issue with a piece on an article in Ebony that examines the rising population of African-Americans, the failure of the Civil Rights movement to provide sustained changes to racism and racist policies in the US and the evolution of the Black Power movement, including a statement from Black Panther Party leader Huey Newton; an article on the struggle of Black Americans to get jobs in the building trades and other labor issues, etc. Politics, sports and fashion also included.
