Nervous System and Other Human Anatomy/Physiology related Commonplace Book

No Place: Albie Liska, publisher/creator, 1901. Hard Cover. Good. Item #016521
ISBN: noisbn

Marbled paper covered boards with a cloth spine. Unpaginated. Blank paper journal. A commonplace book containing the notes and drawings of Albie Liska on the human anatomy and physiology, focusing on the nervous system. This is a continuation (labeled second book) of the subject. A little over half the book is used, containing drawings and explanations of the ear, eye and other subjects, as well as drawings of the poppy and tobacco plants. These are included in a discussion of the harm of narcotics and use of tobacco on the human body. One section also depicts, with colored illustrations, the effects of drug/tobacco use on various organs of the body. Drawings with an artistic quality. At the end of the book, dated August of 1901 is a several page comic strip following the adventures of "Johnny Jones and His Sister." The cartoons follow them on a walk and up into a tree after encountering a bear. Johnny then kills the bear with a knife, seemingly to the chagrin of his sister. Rather well done imagery, if done by a high school or so aged student. GOOD condition. Text block DETACHED from the covers but otherwise intact. Covers faded and scuffed, with minor soiling. Extremities bumped and scuffed. Lowe spine chipped. "A" carved into the upper rear cover. Heavy toning to the paper in the interior.
