First edition, stated. Single sheet, about 20 by 23 inches. Printed on a single side only. A color map of Central Japan, depicting Hiroshima and other cities, as well as the Sea of Japan, highways, roads and railroads. 1:500,000 scale. Printed in August of 1945 by AFPAC, the US Armed Forces of the Pacific, this map depicts Hiroshima, in small scale, prior to its destruction by atomic bomb on August 6th, 1945. The US had decided several months before that Hiroshima would be the target of the bomb thus this map was one of the last to depict Hiroshima prior to the bomb. AFPAC issued a map in September of 1945 that did depict, in small scale, the devastation. GOOD condition. Usual horizontal and vertical fold creases present. Minor soiling, toning, wrinkling and creasing. Tack holes at the corners.
