In 1972 and 1976 Gus Hall and Jarvis Tyner ran for President and Vice-President, respectively, for the Communist Party USA. Gus Hall was a long time Communist Party USA leader, serving 8 years in prison after being indicted under the Smith Act. Jarvis Tyner is an African-American political activist, serving as a spokesperson for the CPUSA, as well as formerly holding the Executive Vice Chair of the party. Pinback for the 1972 campaign.
