Single issue of this journal, founded in 1958, becoming a key publication in the underground press, often using satire and subversive humor to critique American mainstream politics and culture. Founded by Paul Krassner, an American author, and member of the Merry Pranksters (as well as a founding member of the Yippies) [see Wikipedia]. This number with a lengthy piece on the College Rap and Rock Festival held in Concord, New York in January of 1971, featuring Livingston Taylor, Canned Heat, Melanie and other acts, as well as skiing, tennis, sauna parties and three groovy meals. Article with the usual snark expected of the Realist. Also present is a continuation of an article on Aleister Crowley, "The Great Beast." GOOD condition. Moderate general toning. Pages unopened along the top edge. Minor wrinkling.
