Containing the Peabody Institute bookplate on the inside front cover, which also states, Presented by George Peabody. George Peabody (1795-1869) is considered one of the first modern philanthropists, establishing trusts to help the poor, as well as founding the Peabody Institute. He gained much of his fortune from banking, eventually partnering with Junius Spencer Morgan, father of J.P. Morgan. An index to the Monthly Review, listing topics or subjects in alphabetical order. EX-LIBRARY, from the Peabody Institute. In GOOD condition. Covered in blue paper, with library markings on the spine. Some fading, and moderate scuffing to the covers and extremities.
