Dark brown cloth decorated in blind. Pagination varies throughout. A collection of writings by theologian and mystic, Emanuel Swedenborg, including: the New Jerusalem and its heavenly doctrine; a brief exposition of the doctrines of the New Church; the nature of the intercourse between the soul and the body; on the white horse mentioned in the Apocalypse, chap. Xix; an appendix to the treatise on the white horse; on the earths in the universe; the last judgement; a continuation concerning last judgment. Owner's name, Gilbert Hawkes, in ink on the first endpapers. Hawkes appears to have been a scholar on the work of Emanuel Swedenborg, publishing articles on his work in various journals in the late 1800s. GOOD condition. Moderate fading and scuffing. Heavy bumping and chipping to the cloth along the extremities and hinges. Interior hinges weak but holding. Text block toned, with pencil tick marks scattered in the margins throughout. Notes in pencil on the last endpaper. No indication as to whether the marks and notes were from Hawkes or not.
