This issue with a five page article on an anthracite coal miner strike in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, discussing miner grievances as well as the opinions of the bosses and owners. This appears unrelated to the Lattimer massacre of 1897, where striking miners were shot in the back and killed by a sheriff and deputies. Also present is an article on the presence and impact of women in society as witnessed at the 1900 Paris Exhibition. One page news brief relating to China and fighting between Russians, French and German troops and Chinese in the Pechili region. GOOD condition. Small address label on the front cover. Minor soiling and toning, with a faint pencil note on the front cover. Minor wrinkling.
