Bruxelles (Brussels): Gay et Douce, Publishers, 1881. Wraps. Good. Item #013641
Printed wraps. Number 319 of 500 copies. 49 pp. Frontispiece illustration presumably done by Felicien Rops. All text in French. An apparent critical work, perhaps most notable for the frontispiece art by Belgian artist Felicien Rops, blending his usual erotic and dark/occult themes, in the depiction of nude women. His work influenced Edvard Munch, among others. GOOD condition. Wrappers darkened along the hinges and extremities, with some soiling and minor spots of staining. Heavy chipping and creasing along the extremities, with extensive chipping, tearing and loss along the spine. Small semicircular stain to the first endpaper.
