Side folding tabloid format. 16 pp. Illustrations throughout. Single issue of this newspaper featuring articles on a variety of topics. This includes an illustrated article on the Zouave Cadets of Chicago, a military unit inspired by the French Zouave units, with this unit presumably organized by Elmer E. Ellsworth. The US Zouaves toured the United States, and eventually served on both sides during the Civil War. The newspaper features a centerfold spread illustrating formations and maneuvers. Another short article documents, with illustrations, the New York German Fire Corps or Pompiers, firefighters serving in New York City. FAIR condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present. Moderate browning. Large areas of faint staining along the corners and extremities. Some soiling, foxing and spotting. Heavy chipping and tattering along the extremities.
