An account of the war between Japan and China beginning in 1937, written by a journalist embedded with Chinese forces. This includes a summary of the events leading up to the war, as well as sections on the siege of Peking (Beijing), Yenan, Communist strategy, the war in Shansi, in the hills with Ho Lung, Guerrilla and partisan warfare, etc. FAIR condition. Moderate uneven fading, heavy to the spine. Several spots of discoloration. Minor soiling and a few small stains. Cloth frayed and worn along the edges, with several splits to the cloth at the head of the spine. Interior hinge cracked at the title page, with the binding separating into sections at that locale. Minor toning and scattered foxing. Owner's signature present. Scattered underlining in pencil throughout.
