A later printing of this German language edition of this work, providing many folk remedies, charms and spells for colic, aches, swellings, etc. A few spells are included to be used against thieving, murderers and witchcraft, as well as extinguishing fire without water and a few conjurations, earning the book the status of grimoire. Published openly and very popular among its purchasers, this book was reprinted many times in pulp form during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Hohman was a German immigrant, settling in Pennsylvania in 1802, and earning money by publishing various broadsides and other work, as well as practicing as a healer. (See Davies. Grimoires p 192-94). VERY GOOD condition. Minor fading, a bit heavier to the spine. Light bumping and scuffing along the extremities. Minor toning to the paper in the interior.
