This copy presented to William Porcher Miles at Houmas House in Louisiana, an ardent secessionist from South Carolina, and a politician who played a prominent role in Confederate politics during the Civil War. He was also noted as a designer of a popular style of the Confederate flag. A printing of correspondence between Lord Charles Montague and General William Moultrie (of American forces), regarding their principles and duties in regard to their countries, Great Britain and the fledgling United States of America, in light of the Revolutionary War. POOR/FAIR condition. Ex-library with minor stamping and markings to the wrappers. Text block DETACHED from the wrappers, with the first endpaper DETACHED from the text block. Moderate chipping some tearing and loss to the wrappers along the extremities, mostly along the spine. Some soiling and staining to the wrappers. Minor scattered foxing in the interior.
