Quarter green leather with marbled paper covered boards. 220 pp. While primarily focusing on Christmas in the United Kingdom, the work by the British poet and critic Thomas Hervey, this work describes various customs and traditions of the Christmas season, including their origins, as well as the origins of Christmas celebrations. This includes a look at Christmas carols, sports of the Christmas season, as well as festivities surrounding St. Thomas's Day, St. Stephen's Day and Saint Distaff's Day. GOOD+ condition. Several heavy scuffs to the leather, with otherwise minor fading and scuffing to the covers. Armorial bookplate of G.F. Lindsay present. Some offsetting and toning to the endpapers.
