Blue cloth with titling in gilt. Folio. 569 pp. Full page black and white illustrations throughout. A primarily visual history of the Civil War, with the last several pages of the work discussing the Spanish-American War and the adding of Puerto Rico as a colony. Many illustrations of battle scenes from the Civil War, with illustrations by Forbes, Taylor, Wau Hillen, Becker, Lovie, Schell, Crane and Davis, among others. GOOD condition. Heavy uneven fading and toning to the covers, with brownish soiling and scuff marks. Some staining. Cloth split, frayed and very worn along the extremities and hinges. White paint mark at the lower center spine. Title page with a vertical tear running almost its entire length. Hinges weak but intact. Scattered foxing, minor soiling and a few small stains in the book.
