A single issue of this journal devoted to the topic of peace, with this issue discussing fighting Algiers between the French and Arabs, expense of honors paid to warriors, a theological/philosophical discussion of war inconsistent with the Gospel, punishment in the navy, the British legion in Spain, Quaker views on civil government, etc. The American Peace Society published this work sporadically in an effort to promote its views on peace and pacifism. The group was formed in 1818 and is still in operation today. GOOD condition. Heavy creasing and curling to the corners. Minor staining and foxing to the covers. Ink inscription to the upper front cover. Dampstain affecting the front cover and first half of the book.
