An early work devoted to the topic of human evolution, asserting that man is an animal evolved from a similar animal as that of apes. Huxley draws on fossil records and other studies to present his argument. American edition is preceded by the British edition, with the work also appearing in somewhat different form in lectures. GOOD condition, ex-theological institution library. Spine label, interior treatments/markings present. Heavy uneven fading/offsetting to the covers. Minor soiling and scuffing. Cloth chipped, worn and frayed at the head of the spine. Minor toning in the interior.
