First edition. Red cloth with a black and white cover illustration. Small oblong folio. 71 pp. Black and white illustrations by F.I. Bennett. (A few at the front colored in watercolors, presumably by a previously owner, although rather well done). A children's tale of little creatures and their visit to the North Pole, encountering and playing with polar bears, seals and auks. FAIR condition. Moderate to heavy staining and soiling to the covers. Very heavy discoloration and fading to the rear cover, heavy to the front. Several areas of insect damage to the cloth along the hinges and fore edge, as well as several spots to the rear cover. Cloth scuffed, mostly along the extremities. Overall, a very worn looking rear cover, less so to the front. Interior solid, with minor browning and scattered soiling. A few small stains present. Some wrinkling to a few of the pages.
