Half-Leather with black cloth. 368, 316 pages. LACKING all pages after page 316 in the December section. Also MISSING pages 17-20, 31-34 and 311/312 in the July-December section April Fashion plate MISSING, as well a bouquet of flowers plate, with another plate present not listed in the contents. While the other fashion plates appear to be present, some appear mis-titled and incorrectly bound in the book. None of the fashion plates in the first section are colored, despite the contents indicating so. A collected edition of the monthly Peterson's Magazine, featuring a few colored, but mostly black and white plates of fashions, black and white illustrations, and floor plans of cottage and village architecture (tudor and Italian villa style etc.), among other illustrations. Among various essays, poems and stories, is are two Horatio Alger Jr. appearances, preceding his first book by three years: a poem titled, A Welcome to May and a prose piece 'Borrowing from Economy.' Also featured in this volume are several lines of poetry excerpted from Hans Christian Andersen (no title given to this work). FAIR condition. Moderate fading, with moderate to heavy scuffing. Minor soiling. Some small stains and areas of discoloration to the cloth. Heavy bumping and scuffing to the extremities. Ownership signatures present. Rear interior hinge reinforced with white tape. Glue stains on the inside covers. Moderate scattered foxing, some staining and soiling throughout. A few pages with some small pieces of the margins torn off, with a few leaves jutting out slightly from the binding.
