First edition. Blue cloth. 155 pp. SIGNED by the author on a tipped in sheet of paper that bears a small handwritten musical score and dedication. A collection of essays on the art of singing including voice production and placing, breath control, phrasing, diction and tone color, as well as interpretive keys to Handel's 'Messiah; and Schubert's 'Die Schone Mullerin.' Max Heinrich was a 19th/early 20th century German born singer who moved to the United States in the 1870s. He performed throughout the United States, and eventually became a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music in London. GOOD condition. Minor soiling. Moderate fading, mostly along the extremities. Some scuffing, heaviest to the extremities, with some fraying to the cloth. Spine rather faded. Previous owner's bookplate present. Text block toned.
