Dark brown cloth. 1095, 80 pp. A lengthy report issued by the state of Massachusetts, containing short histories, including some battle accounts of the various Massachusetts regiments. This includes the 1st, 2nd, 7th, 9th-12th, 13th, 15th-40th, etc., plus the various cavalry regiments, light battery reginents and others. With rosters of officers, lists of officers who died, etc. Also printed is an opinion of the US Attorney General on the pay of African-American troops. FAIR condition. Heavy fading and uneven discoloration to the covers. Some soiling and scuffing. Cloth worn and frayed along the extremities and hinges. Gift inscription (to a town) on the first endpaper. Scattered foxing, some soiling and staining throughout. The last 20 pages appear to have been chewed on the lower corner, with 1 ½ inch triangular loss to the bottom corners. Rear endpapers very soiled and worn.
