A single issue of this magazine featuring and illustrated article 'On Negro Schools' that provides a condescending and somewhat stereotyped view of African-Americans and their education through schools. Although condescending, it does have a positive tone, and advocates education, as well as citing its positive effects. Accompanied by stereotyped illustrations of African-Americans by Porte Crayon (David Hunter Struther). Another article 'The Art of Perfumery,' discusses in detail the creation of perfumes, and perfumery in general, including various plants and substances used. With illustrations. GOOD condition. Rear cover rather soiled, with some staining, including heavy staining along the bottom edge. Otherwise minor toning and soiling to the covers. Minor creasing and chipping to the wrappers, mostly along the extremities. Owner's name in pencil on the upper front cover.
