Printed wraps. 26 pp. With a fold out architectural type illustration of a school, as well as several small inset floor plans of a school. A report on observations made by a US educator/school administrator (Henry W. Hulbert) on a trip to England and Wales in 1878. This was undertaken to see firsthand the effects of English efforts to reform the school system in England, in an effort to help children in rural areas. These observations were then to be applied to the school system in America, especially those in rural areas. With a few illustrations providing looks at school house design. GOOD+ condition. Heavy browning/offsetting along the lower edge. Minor uneven darkening, soiling and a few faint stains. Interior clean and solid.
