Brown, glossy illustrated wraps. 8 pp. With a few small black and white reproductions of paintings by Afro. A short exhibition catalog accompanied by a critical essay on the work of Afro by Lionello Venturi. Afro Libio Basaldella was a 20th century Italian painter, working in a variety of abstract styles, including cubism, and briefly associated with the Scuola Romana. After World War II, Afro focused his artistic career on America, eventually being drawn to Abstract Expressionism. Catherine Viviano held regular exhibitions of his work through the 1960s, including his first solo exhibition in 1950 (see the Guggenheim website for previous biographical info). VERY GOOD condition. Minor fading and very light wrinkling to the covers.
