Red illustrated wraps. 165 pp. ALL TEXT IN GERMAN. With color reproductions of the art of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. A catalog to a 1971 exhibition of the paintings, prints, drawings and etchings of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, featuring 160 illustrations. With two price lists and a piece of ephemera relating to the exhibition laid in at the rear. Kirchner, (1880-1938) was a German painter and printmaker, being a proponent of Expressionism and other modern art movements in the early 20th century. He was also one of the founding members of Die Brucke, a German artist group devoted to the principles of Expressionism. Kirchner was labeled a 'degenerate artist' by the Nazis in 1933, with hundreds of his works sold or destroyed in 1937. He committed suicide in 1938 (see Wikipedia for previous information). VERY GOOD condition. Uneven fading, minor scuffing and a few light creases at the corners. Some scuffing along the hinges.
