ISBN: noisbn

Wraps, stapled along the left edge. 8 ½ by 11 inches. Cover illustration by Jess Collins. 16 pages including covers. A single issue of this influential 'little' magazine, part of the 'mimeo revolution.' Featuring poetry by John Wieners, as well as an essay/notes from a reading at the Poetry Center in San Francisco, given by Robert Duncan in 1959. This copy is addressed in blue ink to Liam O'Gallagher in San Francisco, presumably the avant-garde sound artist and painter. O'Gallagher's San Francisco loft was known as a gathering for Beat poets, including Allen Ginsberg (see New York Times obituary for the previous information). The Floating Bear was started in 1961 as 'a mimeographed newsletter distributed by mailing list whose mission was the speedy dissemination of new literary work.' (Clay and Phillips p. 74-75). GOOD condition. Center horizontal fold crease present, with several staple holes at the top and bottom of the work. Moderate to heavy uneven browning to the paper. Minor soiling, some wrinkling as well as minor curling at the corners.
